After 14 weeks of tantalising, action-packed netball, the 2016 SAMSUNG Premier League heads into the business end of the season with both the Opens and Under 20s divisions contesting Semi Finals this Wednesday 10 August.

In the opening week of the Finals Series, both the Opens and Under 20s will play in the same timeslot, with the top two teams battling it out on the Show Court – which of course means the game will be broadcast LIVE via BarTV Sports!

Check out which teams have a chance at the inaugural Premiers title below…

OPENS

Semi Final 1: Sutherland Stingrays v Manly Warringah Sapphires, Show Court @ 8:40pm (Watch Live Here)
Sutherland Stingrays snuck home to claim the Minor Premiership after knocking Manly Warringah Sapphires from top spot for the first time this season following their 20-goal win over Panthers in the final round.

Now Sapphires will have their chance at redemption, with the two sides meeting in the Major Semi Final at 8:40pm on the Show Court. Both teams have a win over each other – Sapphires drew first blood in Round 6 with a tight two-goal victory over Stingrays; 45-43.

However the Stingrays struck back in Round 12 in an equally enthralling contest by claiming a thrilling three-goal win over their Northern Beaches rivals. Not only will the winning side claim bragging points, they will also progress straight through to the 2016 Grand Final.

Semi Final 2: UTS St George Sparks v North Shore United, Court 1 @ 7:00pm
In the Minor Semi Final both UTS St George Sparks and North Shore United require a win to keep their title chances alive, with the winner progressing through to the Preliminary Final (against either Stingrays or Sapphires).

We don’t have to look too far back to the last time these two sides met, with the Sparks and United meeting last week in the final regular round. UTS St George will take plenty of confidence into the Finals Series after claiming back-to-back wins against United this season; by 17 goals in Round 7 (59-42) and 18 goals in Round 14 (61-43).

Expect an exciting start to the Under 20s Finals Series with top two sides, UTS St George Sparks (Minor Premiers) and Sutherland Stingrays (2nd) meeting in the Major Semi Final. Both teams have a win over the other – the Sparks got one up in Round 4 with a 47-43 win, before Stingrays got one back in Round 11 by three goals (44-41).

With such tight contests deciding the outcome, no doubt their Semi Final will also go down to the wire! A big prize is on hand with the winner progressing directly to the 2016 Grand Final.

Semi Finals 2: Panthers v North Shore United

However, the North Shore side have shown vast improvement in recent weeks and will head into the Finals Series with momentum – particularly having posted a 50-35 win over Minor Premiers Sparks in the final regular round last week.
